Group Lessons

My prices are different for different subjects – this is intentional. Different subjects require different levels of preparation and knowledge to teach, and I am more of an expert in some subjects than others

Group lessons by definition require more from a tutor than 1-on-1 lessons – tailoring learning to many different sets of needs, preparing for several different levels, ensuring each student receives equal value from the lesson, etc. As such, I charge a higher hourly rate for group lessons, equivalent to an additional 50% above the base rate per additional student.

For example, if I teach two students GCSE Maths at the same time, the hourly rate becomes 200 + (200 x 50%) = 300 AED (equivalent to 150 AED per student per hour).
If I teach four students for A-level music at the same time, then the hourly rate would become 250 + (250 x 150%) = 625 AED (equivalent to 156.25 AED per student per hour).*

Any student data submitted through the website or provided to me directly will be securely stored and not shared with third parties without the consent of the student, and where applicable, their parent(s).

As per the guidelines of the Tutors' Association, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy – that is, if a lesson is cancelled within 24 hours of its scheduled time, the full lesson fee is due (excluding extra charges for travel)

If a regular weekly lesson time has been agreed with a student, and one regular lesson is cancelled, it will be chargeable unless an alternative time is found in the week between the cancelled lesson and the next scheduled lesson.

I reserve the right to waive this cancellation fee at my discretion in case of serious illness or other personal emergencies.

Travel Charges (for in-person lessons in Dubai)

Travel charges will be calculated at a rate of 100AED/hr. Hence, if an in-person student is a 15-minute drive away, the total charge for travel to and from the student will be 2 x (100 x 15/60) = 50AED.*

I reserve the right to waive travel charges if a student's location and schedule enables me to travel more conveniently to a subsequent student, or if the travel time is so short that it has little to no impact on my schedule.

Early and Late Hours Charges

Dubai operates on Gulf Standard Time, 4 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, which means that some early and middle afternoon times in the UK, or late AM/early PM times in the United States, correspond to quite late hours in Dubai.

Any lesson scheduled in whole or in part before 8am or after 9:30pm Gulf Standard Time will incur an extra charge of 50 AED (or £10) per hour for each part of the lesson that is outside these times.

For instance, if an 11+ lesson is scheduled for a UK student for 5-6 UK time during the winter (when Dubai is GMT+4), then the lesson fee will be £40 (base rate) + (10 x 30/60) = £45.
